Modern Age

The village is situated in the Riu Sec Valley, between the Cavalls and Fatarella ranges, on the old road to Aragón and is the link with the lowlands of the Ribera d'Ebre. Because of the strategic position it has been destroyed on various occasions.
In 1463, in the war against John II, the archbishop of Tarragona, Pedro de Urrea, reduced «by combat and with force of arms» Corbera, supporter of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Battles have been documented, in the War of the Segadors, between Castilian troops and miquelets, in the upper part of the term. During the War of Succession, French and Spanish troops occupied Corbera on 6 February 1707. In the First Carlist War, she was a supporter of the Carlists, like the rest of the region, with the exception of Gandesa, who favored the Liberals.
